Pokemon go benefits dyspraxics

5 Ways Pokémon Go Can Help Dyspraxics With Social Interaction

As a person who has a rollercoaster ride with my dyspraxia, I find my issues with small talk, as I can’t stand it…I know it is useful but I find it very awkward. But this Pokémon Go has taken my enthusiasm for small talk and articulation with family members and new people to another level. So I thought I would share how Pokémon Go can help my fellow dyspraxics with social interaction.

What is Pokémon Go & How To Be A Pokémon Go Master ?

#1 Pokémon Go’s Inclusivity

Small talk is light conversation between people who don’t know each other well. For people with social anxiety , making small talk can be anxiety-provoking. One good way to alleviate anxiety is to prepare for the types of topics that are likely to come up during small talk. PG has been downloaded an estimated 7.5 million times in the U.S. as of July 11, 2016. With PG being a hot topic whether you have played it or not, it is relevant and can help you keep conversation light pokemon go infographic

#2 Pokémon Go Is Active

I grew up knowing who Ash Ketchem, Misty and Brock were and so I was geeking out while browsing Pokémon Go’s features, plus also got some exercise too. Where you’re reluctant to go outside the Pokémon Go encourages you to get active and venture the great outdoors. Walking to a park, riding a bike, skateboard etc. well help you cover more ground (safety note: Don’t play and ride at the same time, taking breaks in between your destination will help you)

#3 Pokémon Go Enhances Your Storytelling Skills

PG is something you can use to improve the structure of a story for future interactions, for example, when you describe your first Pokemon you caught, this is your time to tell people in detail…

About how your journey started, what you saw on your journey (Beginning)

Who you captured next and (The Characters – The Middle)

What you are trying to achieve (Challenge Your Are Overcoming)

How they can get involved to help (The Call To Action – The End)

This will enhance your storytelling skills (sidenote: storytelling is a great way to connect with others, it’s data with a soul)

#4 Pokémon Go nurture’s relationships

Pokémon Go may have some often silly/odd names like Jigglypuff, Squirtle, Charmander etc but they havecharmander epic powers so can evolve the more you progress whether that is using them in Pokémon’s in battles or using items on them. This allows you to nurture the Pokémon relationships consistently so there Pokemon can develop and grow/evolve shows you a way you can nurture relationships to help you grow too. This gives you a way to show practice with minimal risk, thus giving you a real example of how friendships grow.

#5 Pokémon Go Helps You Practice Asking For Help

Now because we all know when that when driving you need to focus on the road, this is where you get your family involved. So if you ask your family, friends, colleagues etc to help you catch Pokémon then you will learn the art of asking. Plus it will further develop your relationship

  1. Tell me step by step what’s happening
  2. Who did you catch?
  3. What is their power in the description?
  4. Have you turned on the Incense (incense is an item to increase the likelihood of capturing wild Pokemon, not that nice smelling stuff you have to burn :))

Gotta catch em all!
